The IGA style of Vulpes Barrell is a style that has emerged very recently; it involves the beer being flavored with grape must. Italian Grape Ale is brewed exclusively by craft breweries and is not common to find commercially. The guys at 61Cento produce this barreled IGA using the same processes as Vulpes, so with Cabernet Franc grape must, but adding a period of barrel aging. Being tied to grape must and barrel, Vulpes Barrell will be different from year to year and its production is closely tied to must availability.
On the nose it shows itself worthy of its style with complex, intense, fresh and deep aromas.
On the palate it confirms itself as very complex and full-bodied, with the aromas donated by the wood clearly evident.
In cooking it lends itself to multiple pairings because of its role as a link between beer and wine. The Cabernet Franc grapes used in its production undoubtedly call for meat dishes; however, it is very versatile and also lends itself well to maritime preparations.
