Dorona wine is packaged in a box made from wood salvaged from ancient altanas of Venetian mansions, branded with the logo of “Il Vino dei Dogi” handmade in Murano glass and 24-karat gold by master glassmaker Diego Vio.
Only 250 bottles of Dorona are produced each year!
It is quite normal to remain open-mouthed in front of Dorona, an unparalleled jewel fruit of the hands of Dariella Finotello and Gastone Vio, who have always worked the fertile land of the island of Sant’Erasmo where they were born. Vineyards over 140 years old those of Dorona, the only native vine left in Sant’Erasmo and called “Gold of Venice”because of its golden yellow color.
Further embellishing this liquid gold was Dariella and Gastone’s son, Diego, with a tribute to his homeland: the wooden box of Dorona wine is made from wood salvaged from ancient altanas of Venetian mansions, that is, rudimentary terraces built on the roofs of houses by the inhabitants of Venice; this one is branded with the logo of “Il Vino dei Dogi,” a four-lobed cross fretwork of the Doge’s Palace, made entirely by hand in Murano glass and 24-carat gold by master glassmaker Diego Vio.
Dariella and Gastone work their hectare of land with extreme care and attention. The grapes are harvested by hand in boxes and the first maceration lasts 3-4 days, with spontaneous fermentation given by the grape’s indigenous yeasts that continues for about 15-20 days in steel tanks. Once this first phase is over, the wine remains in steel for another 6 months and is then bottled following the lunar phases of Easter.
The combination of these processes makes Dariella and Gastone’s Dorona an absolutely natural and unrepeatable product from year to year.
The color of Dorona is its characteristic clear golden yellow.
The aroma is as unique as the island from which it comes. Among the fruity hints of pear and apricot, citrus notes also stand out, as well as and above all the scents of the sea, characterized by brackish and iodine notes.
Fresh, dry and well structured, on tasting it finds its main characteristic in minerality, capable of making it long and persistent on the palate.
At the table, Dorona wine finds its natural pairing with Venetian cuisine and recipes, such as baccalà mantecato or sarde in saòr, but in general it is excellent with all fish first courses and with shellfish and crustaceans.

The presence of polyphenols in wine (to a lesser extent in white wines and in large quantities in reds, especially when aged) provides constant protection against cellular oxidation, the main culprit of aging and cellular deterioration.
Perhaps even more obvious and important, however, are the psychological benefits that a good glass of Italian wine can give you: the lightheartedness it gives to an evening with friends, the romance it helps to create in a couple’s dinner, the passion it is able to unleash in anyone lucky enough to taste its essences.

We are aware that excellent products need excellent packaging and at the same time we cannot risk damaging in any way the precious Italian culinary jewels: for this reason our warehouse is equipped with temperature and lighting ideal for food preservation and the most delicate ones (cheeses, cold cuts and craft beers) are stored inside cold rooms. During shipping, on the other hand, each product is protected with the packaging most appropriate to its characteristics.
Cheeses and cured meats, which despite being aged require special care, travel accompanied by a special slow-release gel ice inside isothermal bags: in this way freshness is preserved until the goods arrive at your home.
For our craft beers, which are unpasteurized and therefore more sensitive to high temperatures than normal, we use special isothermal bubble wrap, which can ensure that the accumulated cold is maintained for the shipping time while protecting the bottles from shocks.
To secure the precious bottles of Italian wine, we have equipped ourselves with special inflatable bags, designed solely for the purpose of immobilizing and protecting this product inside the box.
For jars containing a thousand Italian goodnesses, we use special protective bubble wrap liners.
